3 of Diamonds is a spin off group from the Diamonds Band consisting of Ben Christiani (Violin), Rick Chomyn (Lead and Rhythm Guitar) and Craig Repchuk (Accordions and Vocals). The 3 of Diamonds is a very talented group of musicians with years of experience playing music for all types of events.

The group features the young and talented Ben Christiani on the violin. Ben has competed in several old time fiddle contests and has won awards for his fantastic fiddle playing. He is also was a fiddle instructor for the Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association in Edmonton, AB. Along with being an instructor, Ben has performed and played with several different bands and groups around the Edmonton area.

The 3 of Diamonds group plays all types of music with an entertaining repertoire of Old Time, eastern/western Canadian, Traditional Irish Folk, Ukrainian, Latin, and Classic Country music. With an emphasis on Ben’s unique violin style, the group can play for any type of party, festival or function. The 3 of Diamonds will knock your socks off with their snappy polkas, kolomeykas, and upbeat classic country tunes and calm your senses with their soothing waltzes and old time shuffles. They are an exciting group of individuals that will get you up dancing or just rocking in your seat!   

Benjamin Christiani – Violin
-  Ben has been playing the fiddle since the young age of four and is now seventeen.  In July of 2017 he placed first in the Alberta Open category at the Grand North American Fiddle Championship in Radway.  He recently competed in the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship representing Alberta fiddlers and gained immense experience competing with other fiddle players from across Canada. Ben did teach for the Wild Rose Fiddlers Association as well as the Alberta Society of Fiddlers and has attended many fiddle camps, workshops, dances, and festivals around the province. He enjoys working on the family farm, and is presently working as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist. He is eager to continue his career in music and looks forward to future performances.

Craig Repchuk - Accordion, Piano, and Vocals- Has been playing the accordion since the age of six and professionally since the age of twelve when he began with the Checkmate Band and performed with them for eighteen years. He has also played with numerous other bands over the last 48 years and for the past 12 years The Diamonds Band has been his passion to play the music he grew up listening to. Craig was recently inducted into the Canadian Ukrainian Music Hall of Honor and received the award at the 2017 Pysanka Festival. Craig likes to play all types of music and enjoys learning new songs and music. He is a retired peace officer after 34 years of service and now devotes all his time to his music career, business and his family.

Rick Chomyn – Lead and Rhythm guitar. Rick started playing guitar at a very young age and has been passionate about making music from as far back as he can remember. Since his teen years, Rick’s sights have been set on playing in a band and entertaining people with his music. An accomplished guitarist/musician, he has played in an assortment of bands over the years and since 1983 has been the lead guitarist for local Edmonton band, The Playboys. In October 2016 Rick joined The Diamonds Band and off shoot trio The 3 of Diamonds. Although Rick’s spectrum of interest of music genres is broad, his ethnic heritage sparks a particular passion for Old Time and Ukrainian music. Rick is a devoted family man and retired Locomotive Engineer but has no plan of retiring from playing music and entertaining people. After all, according to Rick “music is what feelings sound like”……..
