UB was formed in 1997 by a group of friends who thought that starting a Ukrainian polka band was some sort of great idea. As it turned out, it was some sort of great idea and for the last 15 years, people seem to have tolerated UB's varied musical stylings. That kind tolerance has led the band to many festivals, malankas, zabavas and countless weddings across Canada and the United States (and at least one divorce in Two Hills, Alberta). This past January, UB became the first Western Canadian Zabava band to perform in Australia at the annual Malanka in Melbourne.
UB released their debut CD in 2002 entitled Hardwood Harmonics. Their brand new CD Homebrew’d Hi-Fi was released last summer to rave reviews. The band members are: Arko Ferdycz, Taras Zakordonski, Damein Zakordonski, Jerritt Pawlyk, Jason Feddema, Dan Bridges and Dave Kozak.
