Tanya Bombak was born and raised in Vegreville, Alberta, where she grew up singing at the Vegreville Pysanka Festivals, and the Wendy Brook Music Festivals. She learned Ukrainian folk songs from her mother, a Ukrainian-Bilingual teacher. Tanya studied voice – opera, Music Minor, and English Literature, Major, at The King’s University, Edmonton. She also studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, and for a year at the University of Alberta.
From 2006 to 2019, Tanya sang as a soloist, in duets and trios, and played the trumpet at various concerts and festivals (including Heritage Days in Edmonton, and the Pysanka Festival) with the Canadian Ukrainian Ensemble, Chaika. Tanya is delighted to be sharing her love of Ukrainian music, and performing again, virtually, for the 48th Pysanka Festival.
