This CD compilation celebrates the contributions of all artistis that have brought their passion, love and interpretation of Ukrainian music to the Pysanka Festival over the course of the past 40 years. All proceeds from the sale of this CD are directed toward the Vegreville Cultural Association

For 40 years, for one July weekend, the charming town of Vegreville, Alberta home of the world’s largest pysanka, has come alive with Ukrainian song, dance and all the elements and splendor that make up Ukrainian culture and through it, the Vegreville Pysanka Festival.

From the astounding performances of the grandstands to the breathtaking acrobatics seen at the evening kolomykjas, it is the music of the Pysanka Festival that continues to nourish our soul.

And so the Pysanka Festival is now four decades old and has in that time observed the Millennium of Christianity in Ukraine, the Centenary of the arrival of Ukrainian immigrants in Canada, and the realization of independence for Ukraine.

First and foremost, the Vegreville Cultural Assocation would like to sincerely thank all the contributing artists that have donated their music to this project, whom without their generousity and gift of song, this CD would not be possible.
