Ukrainian dance has always been a vital part of the culture and heritage here in Vegreville.  For decades there have been two prominent Ukrainian Dance organizations providing high quality performances during local festivals, in Alberta and other Provincial Ukrainian Dance competitions. In the summer of 2018, the Vegreville School of Ukrainian Dancing – Promin Dancers, Sopilka School of Ukrainian Dance Society, and the Sopilka Ukrainian Ensemble Society, amalgamated to form the Vegreville Academy of Ukrainian Dance Association (VAUDA). Named SVITLO, (pronounced Sveet-low), meaning light.  Our goals are to teach, preserve and promote the heritage and culture of Ukrainian Dance in Vegreville and the surrounding area. This year our instructors are Debbie Kachmar, Potter and Shaughnessy Potter.
