Polka Ramblers

Sharing traditional family favourites with audiences for many years, the Polka Ramblers have performed for numerous Weddings, Dances, Malanka’s and Festivals including U-Fest, Ukrainian Village Music Fest, and Pysanka Festivals. They are honored to entertain you and help celebrate the 50th Annual Pysanka Festival.
Sylvia Kupka grew up near Lavoy, AB and began her musical journey when she was 11. Through the years she played with several bands, before joining the Meadowlarks full time. In 2009 she was inducted into the Canadian Ukrainian Music Hall of Honor and in 2010 received the Lifetime Achievement Award for 50 years of musical contribution and preservation of Ukrainian Culture and Heritage. She eagerly shared her talents and passion for music with her children, thus forming the Polka Ramblers band in 1978. This passion flowed through to her grandchildren as well.
Over time, the Polka Ramblers became a 3-generation band consisting of Sylvia (Accordion & Vocals), daughter - Shelley Dolter (Saxophone, Violin & Vocals), and grandson - Travis Dolter (Guitar & Vocals). On occasion, granddaughter – Shaelyn Dolter, joins in with vocals. They are proud to share the stage with Rylan Chessall (Drums & Vocals).
Travis has branched out to develop a career in Country Music. An accomplished singer-songwriter and musician, he has received several awards, most recently earning a final ballot nomination for the 2022 Country Music Alberta Fans Choice Award.
Proud of his Ukrainian heritage, Travis released ‘Pyrohy and Borscht’, (Baba’s Christmas Carol) in December, featuring Sylvia (Travis’s Baba), which he used to raise funds for Ukraine Humanitarian Aid. Regularly performing as a 5-piece band at festivals, theatres, and dances, his music is available on all streaming services or at www.travisdolter.com.
Join the Polka Ramblers for some great toe tapping tunes, as you sing and dance along. Pick up a copy of one of their 4 CD’s, including - Generations of Music, featuring Sylvia’s grandchildren, or a copy of ‘Pyrohy and Borscht’!
