POLKA RAMBLERS
Band Showcase
It’s hard to believe that the Polka Ramblers have been providing music for your listening and dancing pleasure for 46 years! Some of the band members have changed, but the music hasn’t! They still bring the same traditional Ukrainian, Country and Rock mix of toe-tapping and dancing music that they always have. Sylvia Kupka started the band with her children and 46 years later, daughter Shelley (Dolter) continues to perform along with grandson, Travis, making this a 3-generation band.
Looking back, Sylvia and Shelley recall the nights when they would change from performance attire to farm clothes to hop onto the combine when they got home to try to get a little more crop harvested before the next rain!
Shelley’s kids, Shaelyn and Travis, grew up performing on stage, packing sleeping bags to nap at the back of the stage when they got too tired to perform! They have performed at numerous Weddings, Dances, Malanka’s and Festivals and are excited to entertain you at the 2024 Pysanka Festival.
Sylvia Kupka grew up near Lavoy, AB and began her musical journey when she was 11. She has been inducted into the Canadian Ukrainian Music Hall of Honor and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for 50 years of musical contribution and preservation of Ukrainian Culture and Heritage.
Travis is an accomplished country singer-songwriter and musician. Proud of his Ukrainian heritage, Travis still makes time to perform with Baba! His release ‘Pyrohy and Borscht’, has become a favourite at Ukrainian events! Travis regularly performs as a 5-piece band at festivals, theatres, and dances, and his music is available on all streaming services or at www.travisdolter.com.
They are proud to share the stage with Rylan Chessall (Drums & Vocals) and Grant Starchuk (Bass Guitar & Vocals). Join the Polka Ramblers for some great toe tapping tunes, as you sing and dance along. Pick up a copy of one of their 4 CD’s, including - Generations of Music, featuring Sylvia’s grandchildren, or a copy of ‘Pyrohy and Borscht’!
