A Marango is a Ukrainian colloquialism for a gypsy troubadour. And the pieces of The Pie are an eclectic ensemble joined together by the love of high energy dance music exemplified by traditional Ukrainian Music. The Pigeon Lake area trio of Ernie Miciak (mandolin), Trevor Payne (guitar), Robert Kochan (flutes, whistles, drymba, percussion) expanded to include Rachel Melenka (fiddle), Edwin Erickson (accordion), Matthew Payne (guitar), Linden Dahler (drums) and Andrew Hamilton (bass). Marango Pie's music draws on tradition while injecting their own unique musical sensibilities. High Energy!
