Vatra Ukrainian Dancers from Edmonton Alberta, is an accomplishing Adult Ukrainian Dance Ensemble focused on preserving and showcasing Ukrainian Culture. Founded in 2004, Vatra was a vision set in motion by owner Ken Kachmar, and under the talented Artistic Directorship of Mikaila Petrov Bezovie and Matt Karpiak, the Ensemble has earned many accomplishments and performed across Canada and the United States.

 

Vatra is comprised of over 35 dancers, spanning the ages from 18 to a young 65+. Rich in energy and spirit, are a few key words to describe this amazing ensemble. Throughout the years, Vatra has participated in many Ukrainian Festivals, gives back to the community through community performances and showcases their talents in competitions. A big congratulations to Vatra as they are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2024. Vatra continues to stand with Ukrainian’s here in Canada and globally during the ongoing war in Ukraine.

 

Vatra is always honored to be part of Vegreville’s Pysanka Festival, but even more so, to be performing at their 51th Anniversary. Please enjoy a breath-taking dance performance from Vatra while they take Ukrainian dance into the next millennium. We are Vatra.
